Having never heard of GTKExtra, I did a quick search:

This project seems to be abandoned since 4 years ago and implementes widgets
which are already part of gtk+.
In terms of binding for java, you'd probably have to work on a full set of
gtk1.2 bindings first... It's not worth it.
