This error derives in the libglade library in glade-xml.c at line 1851. I have not look further into it than that. At this pont I am not sure if it is a Java-GNOME or a libglade issue. If you've a method named clickedOnBlah() in the class that LibGlade is called from, then you should get connected. [Follow up to java-gnome-developer] AfC Sydney |

Do you have the full stack trace? I've prepared ebuilds for the stable maintenance release of java-gnome. http://www.operationaldynamics.com/reference/software/gentoo/ dev-java/libgtk-java-2.4.7.2 dev-java/libglade-java-2.8.2.2 And the meta package to pull lib*-java in and to build the javadocs: dev-java/java-gnome-2.8.2-r3 I'll have this incorporated into the Portage tree as soon as I can but in the mean time those of you here running Gentoo can grab this tarball http://www.operationaldynamics.com/reference/software/gentoo/java-gnome-2.8= .2-r3_ebuilds.tar.gz and use it in your local Portage overlay. The Java-GNOME team is pleased to announce the next stable release of libgtk-java and libglade-java. This release address build problems with the previous libgtk-java release and fixes a critical bug with our libglade-java package. The packages can be downloaded from gnome ftp or from the java-gnome website. -- Jeffrey Morgan "The highest reward for a man's toil is not what he gets for it, but what he becomes by it" - Jon Ruskin |

Hi, I'm using libgtk-java now which is fun :) But I have a (probalby very stupid) question, how do I disable a buttun. So it is impossible to click on it and it is gray/white. If I remember correctly in c++/windows it was button.enabled = false; I know it is possible in gtk because the app ooodi also uses it but in the api I can't find it. Thanks, David |

Actually, no, it won't really help that particular problem. There's a fundamental mismatch now that libgtk-java, libgnome-java, libglade-java and libgconf-java are released independently. The fact that they are in CVS under the module java-gnome doesn't matter - specifically the presence of java-gnome/anything doesn't help because that doesn't make it into the release tarballs. As the decision to split things up like this is from before my time, I presume that people took this sort of thing into account. What you created will certainly help people who are developing out of CVS, though, which is nice. [In the case of Gentoo's java-gnome task ebuild, I do the kludge of unpacking the source balls and then running javadoc over them manually - precisely *because* lib*java are released individually and aren't released as a single tree anymore. <shrug> It's no matter now, and it works fine. I've done the work to make the individual packages, and created the java-gnome task ebuild to bring in the individual lib*-java packages as dependencies. I presume other distros are going to do similar] > javadocs on web site Good show! AfC Sydney |

The javadocs for both stable (2.8.2) and development (2.9/CVS) versions are now available on the web site. On-line browsable versions and downloadable "bundles" (tar.gz) are available. Java's tooldocs are pretty detailed on the use of javadoc. nick |

How can we update the javadoc that's available on the website? there are currently 2 links: - to the outdated 2.6 docs - to the 2.9 docs (link broken). i've got the 2.8 docs generated using the gentoo ebuilds (thanks afc) so i could tar this up and put it somewhere, but i'm not sure how to get it onto the website. i could also generate the javadocs for the current CVS and put them under the 2.9 docs link. can anyone tell me what's the best way to do this? thx nick |

So the change finally showed up on anoncvs. MAINT_2_8 of libgtk-java now builds. I tried one or several of the example demos using it, and they ran. I'd say you're probably alright to release=20 libgtk-java-2.4.7a libgtk-java-2.4.7.1 (yuk) libgtk-java-2.4.8 or whatever. AfC Sydney |

Or, just patch it out to get rid of it, seeing as how it's not actually used at this time (the docbook related targets are commented out of the actual Makefiles at the moment). See http://www.operationaldynamics.com/reference/software/gentoo/dev-java/libgt= k-java/files/libgtk-java-2.4.6_no-docbook-autoconf-macro.patch which is what I did for the Gentoo ebuilds after one of my users complained of the same thing. [I hadn't noticed myself because I had docbook-sgml-utils installed on my system as a result of it being required by some other package] AfC Sydney |
