Hi, I'm playing around with TreeModels, TreeFilters and so on... At one point I have a TreeStore and on top of it I build a TreeModelFilter. At some point I wait for a user to click on an element in a TreeView that is built on the TreeModelFilter and then get an iterator for the TreeModelFilter based on the selection. It seems that when I do that I get a warning from GTK, although everything works. This warning does not creep up when I step through the code, only when it is run at full speed. Any idea what this might be caused by? Am I safe to ignore it? Thanks, Igor Here's the warning: ------------------------------ java.lang.Exception: gtk_tree_model_filter_ref_node: assertion `GTK_TREE_MODEL_FILTER (model)->priv->stamp == iter->stamp' failed at org.gnu.glib.GObject.printStackTrace(GObject.java:644) at org.gnu.gtk.Gtk.gtk_main(Native Method) at org.gnu.gtk.Gtk.main(Gtk.java:55) at com.redhat.uicopy.WindowLauncher.main(WindowLauncher.java:173) java.lang.Exception: gtk_tree_model_filter_get_value: assertion `GTK_TREE_MODEL_FILTER (model)->priv->stamp == iter->stamp' failed at org.gnu.glib.GObject.printStackTrace(GObject.java:644) at org.gnu.gtk.Gtk.gtk_main(Native Method) at org.gnu.gtk.Gtk.main(Gtk.java:55) at com.redhat.uicopy.WindowLauncher.main(WindowLauncher.java:173) (java-gnome:3671): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_set_property: assertion `G_IS_VALUE (value)' failed (java-gnome:3671): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_value_unset: assertion `G_IS_VALUE (value)' failed java.lang.Exception: gtk_tree_model_filter_real_unref_node: assertion `filter->priv->stamp == iter->stamp' failed at org.gnu.glib.GObject.printStackTrace(GObject.java:644) at org.gnu.gtk.Gtk.gtk_main(Native Method) at org.gnu.gtk.Gtk.main(Gtk.java:55) at com.redhat.uicopy.WindowLauncher.main(WindowLauncher.java:173) |

There hasn't been talk about that, no. I don't know if that should be inside Java-Gnome's scope, i think it would be better as a project apart which uses JG; but it would nice either way :) Cheers, J.V. --- Robert Ludwick <rob...@gm...> escreveu: > Has there been talk of creating a java binding of the wnck/window > navigation toolkit? Hi Tomasz, The addition of a tray icon widget will be integrated into Java-GNOME by wrapping the C egg library (http://cvs.gnome.org/viewcvs/libegg/). The wrappings for eggtrayicon and eggstatusicon are basically completed (it has not been decided as to whether eggtraymanager will be wrapped or not). The code has not been submitted as example applications showcasing the tray icons are incomplete, though I do hope to have it sent out to one of the developers before the end of the week. If you have any further questions about the tray icon, please do not hesitate and ask. Has there been talk of creating a java binding of the wnck/window navigation toolkit? If not, does it sound like a good idea? I have started development on a package that does some of the window manipulation through libwnck. I was thinking of pressing on if there is enough interest. Robert |

Hello Is there a posibility to create an tray icon (notification area icon) in java-gnome? I saw it possible with swt (azureus is doing that). TIA -- t.m. Tomasz Mielnik |

How can i try it? ;) it's a alpha-beta-release :) just for impatient users like you: http://news.nopcode.org/ClasspathBrowser.tgz would be good if someone looks at my gtkhtml problem report. My app crashes on that. The javadoc URL is hardcoded (by now) to the sun webpage. But this will be soon configurable :) enjoy. |

I added some changes into the TreeView tutorial: - how to use TreeStore instead of ListStore to create trees of items. - a comment tip to simplify the use of data in TreeViews. I also added an screenshot of the ClasspathBrowser. The app that i'm coding nowadays... I have a doubt about VBox.. as you can see in http://news.nopcode.org/cpb.jpg , The widgets inside the ScrolledWindow is center aligned.. I want to align them to the left. The widget hirearchy is: ScrolledWindow | '-- VBox | |-- Label | |-- Label | |-- Label . . I was unable to find the way to align them :/ |

To just show it, this is the code i used in an app: I am trying to display a FileChooser widget inside an existing window, not a separate FileChooserDialog. I've been away for the past few days, but now I've tried just importing an empty window from my glade file, and creating a FileChooserWidget in the code (instead of glade), and adding it to the window. This works perfectly, so it seems there's some problem with libglade. I'll try to look into it. Hi all, I'm just delving into the GTK bindings for a personal project. I actually managed to get a working TreeView example (thanks to the tutorial) that uses a CellRendererCombo for one column. So far so good. My current problem is, that I need to have a column that uses the CellRendererCombo but has individual choices for each row. Since I set the renderer (and therefore its model) for a whole column, I don't know if this is possible.=20 Could you please shed some light on this? Hi Igor, On Fri, 2005-03-06 at 15:22 -0400, Igor Foox wrote: > [GtkFileChooser] A few nights ago at GUADEC I was working with Ben Konrath (scsibear) on a similar problem. I'm no expert, but I do have working FileChooser code to tell you about. > Does anyone have any idea on what might be causing this, or better yet, > a solution? I think at least part of the problem is that Dialogs tend to be treated a bit specially - both by the underlying GTK libraries and up at our level in java-gnome land. I found that the API was a bit fragile. You'd think that you could just new FileChooser() and be happy, but for various reasons that seems to work sub-optimally, if at all. [sub-optimally includes it not remembering where you were if you'd previously navigated the chooser] Of about five different reasonable seeming combinations I tried, the only way I could get FileChooser to behave was to add a FileChooser dialog to my .glade file. [Some people seem to find this natural, but until now I've only ever had one Window per glade file. I kinda stumbled across doing it this way by accidentally hitting the wrong button in Glade. Gotta love it]. Then, in my code, I wrote bits to get a reference to that dialog, and then handled run()ing it and then parse the weirdo int return code (seems to be from the API that comes from the parent Dialog class). Anything else just plain didn't work right. If you want to see an example, try grabbing the code to xseq[1] and seeing if that works for you - right off the bat there's a file selection dialog you can try. If that all works, then you know that your java-gnome installation is ok. If xseq won't run, then upgrade to >=libgtk-java 2.6.2 and >=libglade-java 2.10.1, and try again. AfC Stuttgart P.S. First time we've seen you on this list, so a very warm welcome to you. [1] xseq: yes, in just about every email I send to this list I'm going to refer people to my code. Why? Becuase our JavaDoc is terrible, our examples tend to be simplistic or contribed, and our API itself tends to be a bit fragile (largely because there are several ways you *could* use something, but only generally one way you *should* use something). Figuring out workable code paths was *very* challenging - and I'm not exactly an amateur - but once you've got a working model, you can generally replicate it and be golden. Since I *have* a working instance of many of the java-gnome peices now (TreeView, TextView, FileChooser, LibGlade of course, Pixbuf/Image loading, Listener/Event patterns, etc) it would be kind of foolish for me NOT to point people at that code, at least as a starting point for them to try and get ideas. Anyway, for some FileChooser code, see http://research.operationaldynamics.com/darcs/xseq/tests/xseq/ui/TestLoadWindow.java in particular around line 143 for dealing with the int response code, and also note the byplay between showAll()+present(), run() and hide(). I'm having a problem trying to call Entry::setText(...) with an element of an array/Vector. The element is set correctly, but after that the rest of the array/Vector is cleared to empty strings. From what I've glanced in the source code, I'm suspecting that (*env)->ReleaseStringUTFChars(env, text, text_g); in JNIEXPORT void JNICALL Java_org_gnu_gtk_Entry_gtk_1entry_1set_1text (JNIEnv *env, jclass cls, jobject entry, jstring text) is to blame, but I'm not sure. Does anyone know of a way to fix this, or am I going to have to resort to cloning everything I throw into Entry::setText()? Thanks, Adam |

Hi everyone, I'm a fairly new user to java-gnome, so please bear with me. I seem to have some trouble with the FileChooserWidget. I first tried to use it in a semi-complex window, and got the following error (and no widget): -------- org.gnu.glade.GladeXMLException: unknown widget class 'GtkFileChooserWidget' at org.gnu.glade.LibGlade.glade_xml_new(Native Method) at org.gnu.glade.LibGlade.<init>(LibGlade.java:97) at org.gnu.glade.LibGlade.<init>(LibGlade.java) at com.redhat.uicopy.WindowLauncher.<init>(WindowLauncher.java:17) at com.redhat.uicopy.WindowLauncher.main(WindowLauncher.java:26) -------- Later on, I created a simple window and just stuck a file chooser in there without any other sugar. Both of these experiments are using Glade2. Again when I try to import this new glade file (with just the window with the chooser) into my java app I get the same exception. Does anyone have any idea on what might be causing this, or better yet, a solution? Thanks, Igor |

That's awesome.. please send this to the java-gnome-hackers mailing list, so we can discuss this where it's more appropriate =) Cheers, J.V. --- Juha Koskela <ko...@gm...> escreveu: > Hello, > > I've been writing a netbeans module to synchronize java source code > from .glade file (e.g. generate code for signal handlers, member > variables for widgets and so on). Hello, I've been writing a netbeans module to synchronize java source code from .glade file (e.g. generate code for signal handlers, member variables for widgets and so on). Currently I have working code generation either from scratch or filling a code template. I have planned how to do synchronization (update) of the .java file when the .glade file has been changed, but not much for that is yet implemented. I know there is a plugin for eclipse but does it do code synchronization? If not then maybe my code can be used there. The synchronization part is not depending on netbeans in any way (it can even be run as separate java application from command line). Next I'll try to find where to publish my code.. And I'll need to do some refactoring (change package names and so on). - Juha Koskela |
