I am not sure what's the status of libgnomevfs-java is, but in relation
to gst-java, I just haven't had the time to work on it since I've been
pretty busy working on the other libraries (mostly libgtk-java, but also
libraries like libglade-java).

gst-java at the moment is a binding for gstreamer 0.8. I would like to
port it to 0.9 and also to update it to use the new memory management
mechanism introduced in libgtk-java 2.7. I will only have time to do
this once libgtk-java 2.8.0 release is out, however.

[Java-gnome-developer] libgtk-java 2.6.3 finished

Hello,

It's been a long time coming, but we have at last released an update of
the current libgtk-java stable branch.

There are many bugfixes, but the two really noticeable ones are that
DataColumnObject works now, and that CustomEvents.addEvent() is no
longer afflicted by the problem whereby events weren't being processed
until you moved the mouse over the window.

I've been making unofficial releases and posting them here:
http://research.operationaldynamics.com/linux/java-gnome/

In particular, the new tarball for 2.6.3 is here:
http://research.operationaldynamics.com/linux/java-gnome/dist/libgtk-java-2.6.3.tar.gz

We'll get it up onto ftp.gnome.org in due course.

Thanks especially to Ismael Juma for having supported me in pushing to
get this update released.

And, in case you're wondering, we'll get libgtk-java 2.8.0 pushed out in
the next week or so. We have some forward merging to do, and a fairly
annoying refactoring is necessary to undo an ABI breakage, but once
those are done we should be good to go.

I use libgtk-java-2.6.2 compiled on my Ubuntu Hoary system, and I use the=

j2sdk1.5-sun jvm.
I try to fill a TreeView with TreeIter. Here is my code :

All compile fine but I've got this exception when I run my program :

I'm working on bindings for gtkglext. However, I really need some help with 
those. My test program crashes when it tries to create a 
org.gnu.gdk.gl.Context from a org.gnu.glib.Handle returned by the native

Hi,

Got it to work perfectly, not sure how intuitive the write(byte[]) on
the PixbufLoader is for generating a new image :o|

But I have yet another problem.=20
I making a search application, and in that application i have a
ScrollWindow where i've added a VBox containing a lot of other Box'es.
But when I reissue a search i need to clear the VBox in order to add the
new search results (the other boxes).

Any ideas ????

The class you want to use is org.gnu.gdk.PixbufLoader.  This will help
creating Pixbuf objects from GIF, JPG, etc data.  The Pixbuf(byte[])
constructor only parses XPM data.   In the current CVS head (which is
soon becoming libgtk-2.8), the documentation of PixbufLoader is fairly
complete.

GTK has an Image widget; it has an Image(Pixbuf) constructor [as well as
several other just-as-useful ones, including getting the data straight
from a file.]

Pixbuf has a Pixbuf(byte[]) constructor which seemed promising for you,
until I read in the JavaDoc that it parses XPM data. That's probably not
what you want.

Pixbuf also has a couple of (String) constructors which load an image
from a specified file into the Pixbuf structure.

I noticed that there is a saveToBuffer() method on Pixbuf which returns
a byte[] and has an argument to specify the image type, but that's the
opposite of what you want.

Anyway, it's obvious that GTK has the ability to parse image files; it
may well be that we need a new constructor for Pixbuf along the lines of
(byte[], String) where the String specifies the type of image to be
parsed.
        
Nonetheless, I'd give Pixbuf(byte[]) a try. It's always possible that
it's smarter than the JavaDoc gives it credit for. If so, we should fix
the JavaDoc.

There was a bug present until libgtk-java 2.6.2. It has been fixed in
CVS HEAD and the fix was backported to the current stable branch which
is "gtk-java-2-6". DataColumnObject works now.

(A bunch of us blundered into this a few months back)

We'll be cutting a libgtk-java 2.6.3 Real Soon Now (tm), but in the mean
time I recommend you grab it from CVS and build from there if you can.
