Hi Lars, To the best of my knowledge and what I've been able to glean off the GTK docs, no such widget exists in GTK and therefore in Java-GNOME. However, implementing such a widget yourself if definitely possible within the widget set that GTK (and Java-GNOME) provides, which is probably what the people in Nautilus did. Best of Luck! Hi everyone, there's this special type of ComboBox widget that's used in the sidebars of newer versions of the Nautilus browser or evince for example. (It's special mostly in that it appears as a label with a downwards arrow by default and only changes to a button when the mouse is above it.) Is this widget also available in Java-GNOME? If so, what's it's name? (I'm not even sure wheter the widget is part of GTK...) Regards, Lars |

I wanted to set value to null in a column of ListStore but noticed it is actually not null but an empty String. After investigating the problem I found this : in org.gnu.glib.Value public void setString( String value) { if (value == null) value = ""; g_value_set_string(handle, value); } Is this normal? And what about setting the null value ? |

Hm. Does this mean that we need to add a addListener(PanedListener) to Paned and a PanedEvent class with CHECK_RESIZE, MOVE_HANDLE and ACCEPT_POSITION? I've updated the tutorial about how to use ACR to create './configure' scripts for java-gnome projects. The git-devel tree of gdvb is really nice :) now with TDT support. http://java-gnome.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/bin/view/Main/UsingACR PD: How is the libegg development? I would like to appletize gdvb into the notification area like gaim. Someone at irc point me at http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=330432, but seems that nothing changed since then. Thanks for this great API. --pancake |

Hey everyone, After the jni cleanup effort by Sami, Andrew and myself we were able to find and fix a large number of little buglets that we believe would break 64 bit compatibility. We've gotten frysk to run after these fixes, and we would like to encourage everyone to try out Java-Gnome on 64 bit so we can flush out any further bugs. Thanks, Adam |

Hi everyone! Two questions related to signals/listeners: 1) What am I supposed to do if I want to get notified of position changes of the handle in a Paned widget? Connecting handlers to the check_resize, move_handle or accept_position signals in Glade doesn't seem to work here and neither does adding a ContainerListener that tests for CHECK_RESIZE events. 2) For TreeSelections, does anyone know of a clean way to get more detailed information on what kind of user action changed the selection (that is, in addition to the fact *that* it changed)? The problem is that I'd like to differentiate between replace actions (simple click) and add/remove actions (Ctrl-click). (Comparing the selection after each change wouldn't always work since I need to differenciate the two actions even in situations where there was previously no item selected.) Is manually testing whether the Control-key was pressed during selection the only/correct way to do it? Thanks in advance for any suggestions! Regards, Lars |

Hi, I am tryig to build and run Frysk, heavily using Java-Gnome, on PPC64. The platform I am using is FC5 test2, with all the packages being the rawhide (ok, about a week ago). Frysk build ok and start also ok. But when I click on a random process in the process view, it report Xlib error: sequence lost (0x10000 > > 0x2080) in reply type 0x0! There is no such error in x86 platform. I am now suspecting that it might be related with Java-Gnome on PPC64 (anybody else else tried Java-Gnome on this platform, please let me know. :-) The reason is that when I attach GDB to the running Frysk, I sometimes get SEGV signal at cario function, such as: (gdb) c Continuing. Hi, I'm trying to load manually a document from a String. While the standard MozEmbed.loadURL() method works quite well, the family of methods that use MozEmbed.appendData() (including renderData()) don't seem to generate the net events when loading of the document is finished (in this case, all of the linked content, because the main body is loaded manually)... Also, the net_stop event doesn't necessarily mean that the document is rendered in the browser window - sometimes there is a noticeable delay between these two events. Is there any event available which says something like "everything is loaded AND rendering is finished"? -- Best regards, Andrzej Bialecki <>< ___. ___ ___ ___ _ _ __________________________________ [__ || __|__/|__||\/| Information Retrieval, Semantic Web ___|||__|| \| || | Embedded Unix, System Integration http://www.sigram.com Contact: info at sigram dot com |

Hi there, Please refer to http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=318944 for some information on the issue. In essence, the code was originally using a Handle as a parameter. However, I believe it was while Ismael was committing a patch that I had submitted that he came to realize that the examples didn't work for him, so he changed the callback to accept a String instead. After the fact, it stopped working for me, which I spoke to him about, and we are both pretty confused as to why it's like so. I did not mention this in the bug, but the version in which it does not work for me is Firefox 1.0.7 (that's not to say 1.0.6 and before it was all fine for me with using a String, I can't say I remember if I tried the bindings back then). In the 1.5 file, it appears to explicitly state String (GTK_TYPE_STRING | G_SIGNAL_TYPE_STATIC_SCOPE) whereas the 1.0.7 file just says G_POINTER. Hello, I'm trying to compile and run the TestMoz example, on Fedora Core 5 beta2. I needed some features from PixBuf, so I had to upgrade all java-gnome libraries to their latest CVS versions. SelfLoadingMoz works flawlessly. But when I try to run the TestMoz example, it complains with the following exception: java.lang.Exception: Java-GNOME - cannot find callback method handleProgressAll in the specified object with signature (Lorg/gnu/glib/Handle;II)V This happens when MozEmbed tries to register the NetListener. Any help would be highly appreciated - in my application I need to track the net_stop event, so that working listeners are rather important... ;-) Thank you! -- Best regards, Andrzej Bialecki <>< ___. ___ ___ ___ _ _ __________________________________ [__ || __|__/|__||\/| Information Retrieval, Semantic Web ___|||__|| \| || | Embedded Unix, System Integration http://www.sigram.com Contact: info at sigram dot com |

Hi all, I'm sometimes getting this message: (java-gnome:23339): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: IA__g_object_remove_toggle_ref: couldn't find toggle ref 0xb1e49940((nil)) The same message repeats about 50 times. Does this indicates a bug in my code? or in java-gnome code? How should I debug it? Thanks! |

Hi all, You can setEditable(false) an Entry because it implements the editable interface, but how do you make a ComboBox *not* editable? and setting it insensitive doesn't count, since it renders the widget in a different way. I can only think of just putting the correct string in the combo and not the not selected options, but this seems overkill. Any idea? Thanks! |

I think I originally installed (older versions of) the Gentoo packages, which sorted out some dependencies for me, but then I ran into a bug which you guys fixed within about 24 hours, so I had to use CVS to continue. I see that there are updated Gentoo packages now, and I'll give them a try soon. By the way, I'm giving a presentation at FOSDEM 2006 about my success getting JFreeChart to run with GNU Classpath and Cairo. I've tweaked a couple of things in my CairoGraphics2D class and I'm getting some really nice output now - I'll put the presentation and all the details online after FOSDEM (at the end of the month). I'm happy to contribute the CairoGraphics2D code to cairo-java if you think it fits (I think it does). Keep up the good work! Dave |

I've just updated the pkgsrc packes of cairo-java, glib-java amb libgtk-java (next ones will be up soon). But I've noticed about a huge slowdown! about 2x-3x. Bootup process: ========== gdvb with libgtk-java-2.6 = 2 seconds gdvb with libgtk-java-2.8 = 5 seconds. I understand that gtk-java2.8 uses cairo and glib, and this makes gtk heavier to load...but 2-3x?! How can this be improved? Maybe too many checks for initializations? This makes the code secure against posible segfaults on bad code, but makes slower.... any idea? solution? tip? Thanks --pancake. |

Hi all, Here is what I found so far: - It looks that there is no problem in java-gnome: ComboBox as Button both extend Bin, and Button is working properly. No code in the hierarchy captures the signal or prevents emiting it. - Attaching a ContainerListener to the ComboBox gives you a SET_FOCUS_CHILD event, while doing the same in the Button doesn't. - Looking at the gtk code, it looks that the combobox grabs the focus to some of his childrens, so the combobox itself never gets focus, and doesn't emit a focus signal itself. - Writing a similar example in C gives the same results: the Button emits the focus out event and the ComboBox doesn't. - I'm left to using the SET_FOCUS_CHILD of the Container when using a ComboBox. - It remains for more experienced people to decide if this is a bug / design decision from GTK, and people should use SET_FOCUS_CHILD (and we need to document it :)). Examples attached. See you! Manuel, chat with the day-shift guys in Toronto on IRC, but if none of them are able to figure this one out quickly, I'd suggest you raise a bug in Bugzilla (against java-gnome/libgtk-java) and attach your test case. Hi, Here is a compact example, showing that Entry produces focus events, while ComboBox doesn't. Andrew Cowie wrote: > Test cases are always brilliant. They are, of course, hard to generate > in a compact way so I for one always take the time to try them if > someone goes to the trouble. |

Hi all, I'm trying to use the "FOCUS_OUT" event out of ComboBox, since it extends from Bin which extends from Container which finally extends from Widget, I should able to get the event, right? I'm attaching a ComboBoxListener and I get the CHANGED event. I'm attaching a ContainerListener and I _don't_ get any Container event. I'm attaching a FocusListener and I _don't_ get any focus event. So it seems that something gets wrong in ComboBox <-> Bin <-> Container. Can anyone look into this? Should I send a simple example? Any hints to fix the bug myself :)? Thanks! |
