I'm in search of a web-based reporting solution to use in my
environment, which is Cold Fusion MX. I need to be able to generate
some simple reports (no graphs or anything, just plain text with
Because CFMX is a java-based server, I have the ability to instantiate
java objects and call their methods and classes, though to be honest,
outside of calling a simple java hello world object, I haven't done this.
I know a little bit of java programming, but not much.
My goal is to build a static report design (iReport looks nice), and
then using the JasperReports objects, generate a PDF report file and
return the location of the generated PDF file for viewing.
My searches on the various ColdFusion lists have yielded few useful
results, but I wondered if anyone here might be able to help me. What
would the required steps be to compile the report design, suck in the
report data, and generate the PDF?
This would totally be a non-visual application..
