JAMWiki 0.9.0 Released

After seven months of development the pensive and brooding JAMWiki 0.9.0 release (code name "Mythbuster") is now available. This release is a major release that contains significant new features as well as bug fixes and enhancements:

* Performance Improvements. Performance has been optimized across the application, with speedups of anywhere from a few percent up to 100x. Scalability has also been improved, with extensive testing done using datasets that include 70,000 topics and over 1.3 million topic versions.
* Mediawiki Syntax Compatibility. Syntax compatibility has been vastly improved, particularly for templates. In addition, support has been added for the {{subst:}}, {{#if}}, {{#ifeq}} and {{#expr}} functions, and image support now also includes the ability to specify the frameless, link=, alt= and {width}x{height} attributes.
* Improved Namespace Support. A new Special:VirtualWiki administration page has been created to allow namespace translations and easier virtual wiki administration.
* Upgrade to Spring Framework 3.x, Spring Security 3.x and Lucene Search 3.x.

JAMWiki 0.8.0 Released

After eight months of development the most exciting version of JAMWiki yet, the amazing JAMWiki 0.8.0 release (code name "Yellowstone") is now available. This release is a major release that contains significant new features as well as bug fixes and enhancements:

* Transition to Java 5. JAMWiki 0.8.0 requires Java 5 or later. Support for JDK 1.4 has been dropped as that version of Java reached its end-of-life on October 30, 2008 and Java 5 offers some compelling benefits.
* Enhanced XML import / export. Earlier versions of JAMWiki offered basic import functionality for Mediawiki XML files, but JAMWiki 0.8.0 offers support for importing Mediawiki XML exports with topic history, edit date, and author. Additionally, support for exporting topics to a Mediawiki-compatible XML format is now available.
* Special:Logs. Support for Mediawiki-style logs including user creation logs, move logs, import logs, etc.
* Performance improvements. Daniel Fisla has been doing investigation of JAMWiki performance with millions of records and has suggested some improvements.
* Usability enhancements. Improvements include an enhanced diff that shows details of what portion of a line changed, a new "Show Changes" button during editing, linkable topic sections in edit summaries, and the ability to specify an alternate filename when uploading images via Special:Upload.
* Additional Localization. Special:Specialpages and the upgrade process are now fully localized.

After approximately eight months of development, the lovely and talented JAMWiki 0.7.0 release (code name "Cornbread") is now available for download from Sourceforge. This release is a major release that contains significant new features as well as bug fixes and enhancements:

* Full integration with Spring Security 2.0, allowing easier use of LDAP, OpenID, CAS, and other security frameworks with JAMWiki. This change necessitated significant changes to JAMWiki's database schema.
* User:hanspeterklapf created Special:OrphanedPages to display un-linked pages.
* Topic history now displays "next" and "prev" links for diffs. Additionally, Special:RecentChanges, history pages, and other pages that display diffs now also display the number of characters changed in that diff.
