Incidentally, it has been rumored for some time, but it would seem that
Dalvik is now being deprecated by Google on the Android platform.

I wonder if it would make sense for e.g. a GSOC student to potentially work
on introducing optimizations in the Dalvik VM back into JamVM / Classpath,
e.g. a JIT - at least conceptually similar algorithms in any case, as the
codebase has changed dramatically since it was "forked" originally.
