Bonjour, for those of you with the JamulusOS v2 on a persistent USB key, I just thought of sharing that some of my upgrading concerns were unnecessary. I rather easily upgraded from Jamulus 3.6.2 to 3.8.2 and it's OK even after hard rebooting a couple of times ; settings were preserved. As per the web install documentation, I did backup the .ini files but not the scripts, So some were lost though, so better back them up first : - Start Jamulus Service - Stop Jamulus Service - Status of Jamulus service...

Note : You don't need to compile Jamulus package anymore, there is a debian package on github ( https://github.com/jamulussoftware/jamulus/releases look at the assets )

If you want to give it a try, you can create a custom iso from already installed and tweaked debian with Respin https://linuxrespin.org/. I did not yet test it but it seems some Linux distro have been created using it.

  • Laurent Schwartz Laurent Schwartz posted a comment on discussion Jamulus OS v2

One solution would be to create Jamulus OS on top of Debian but i notice that create an iso for Debian seems far more complex than on Ubuntu with Cubic and Debian lack some easy to use software manager for average users like Ubuntu ... Use of Librazik3 iso would be a good start : it has a lot of audio software already packaged and it's GPL. https://librazik.tuxfamily.org/base-site-LZK/english.php

Hello Bernhard, Thanks for your interest in Jamulus OS. But ... The Jamulus OS advantage was that once the usb stick was created, it was helpful out of the box without any further steps. Create a script to be applied after usb stick creation with UbuntuStudio will add one step and will keep this simplicity out ... Further more, apply change to a usb stick is slow and take a lot more time than on hard drive .... So, this is not a desired solution except perhaps if change are few. Sorry ... Kind Regards,...

Dear Laurent, I still use a JamulusOS-Stick for difficult cases and would be happy to help reviving the possibility of getting it. I am no pro in matters of tweaking the installation process. But I feel quite confident in testing and debugging scripts to be used on linux platforms. A thought close to the easy way not completely compliant with the license: How about having a mere script for doing all the things You had to do to the installation of UbuntuStudio? This topic ist discussed here: https://askubuntu.com/questions/169376/clock-time-is-off-on-dual-boot Linux supposes the RealTimeClock (RTC) to show UTC. If the computer re-synchronizes time with NTP, Linux also adjusts the RTC. Windows however supposes the RTC to show local time. The behaviour can be changed either on the Linux side or on the Windows side. Change on the Linux side is not feasible, since, when you issue the command timedatectl set-local-rtc 1 the RTC may already have be adjusted and...

First thank you for a very quick response! Yes, but just to use the image is too easy and gives no insight in what optimizations are done and what more, if anything, can be done for a certain situation. I have had worse results with the standard Ubuntu studio than with Jamulus OS although that may be due to worse internet use for some participants. It is very hard to compare sessions as the actual latency, bandwidth and jitter varies for all participants and for the server. But I'd like to apply the same optimizations anyway. If you want to allow only a IP whitelist to access to your jamulus private server, you can do it with a firewall. A simple firewall for Jamulus OS/Ubuntu is ufw with a nice GUI named gufw. sudo apt install gufw Deny access to your computer and for each IP address (musician IPv4 addresses) add a rule to allow input on 22124/UDP.

Hello, I think you cannot avoid language selection at startup without recreating a new iso for German purpose. You can try to create a custom iso with cubic starting from jamulus OS V2 (you will need Ubuntu 20.04 or jamulus OS v2 Install ). If you can't find how to setup the default language on a custom iso build with cubic please ask askubuntu.com for Ubuntu 20.04 it will work the same. And please report your documentation in this thread. I'm interested. BR, Laurent
