#32 Cutting off the first ":" in a message starting with ":"

I was toying with my bot the otherday and I gave it a
smiley ":-)"
and I saw the following in my console..

further investigation reveals it strips the ":" on any
message that begins with a ":"
example ":/" was sent to the bot.
