#8 can't compile with realtime capabilities

hi i use jack since a year and i'm very happy about it.
thanks for all your work. I tried to use a patched
kernel to improve latency but i could'nt compile jack

my config
i586 mandrake 10.2 kernel 2.6.1.7 patched
realtime-preemption
Alsa 1.0.8

i tried to compile jack 0.100 with realtime
capabilities but got this error while 'configure'

checking for capgetp in -lcap... no
configure: WARNING: *** no libcap present
configure: WARNING: *** required program md5sum not found
configure: error: *** Capabilities support not present.
Run configure again without --enable-capabilities.

compiling without realtime works fine

i have libcap 1.10 and md5sum installed

any idea to solve this problem?
