[Jabref-users] Institutions as authors

I'm using the JabRef-5.1 snapshot from today (10 March) on
Slackware-14.2/x86_64.

I have a number of references in the database authored by institutions or
agencies, such as the National Research Council.

When I enter 'National Research Council' in the author data entry field the
author is shown as Council, N.R. in both the display panel to the right of
the required fields tab and in the citation transferred to the LyX document.
The bibtexkey field immediately below the author field is 'NRC2001'.

The bibtex entry has it correct:
author = {National Research Council},
but the citation pushed to the lyx document is:
Council (2001)
when it should be NRC (2001) or National Research Council (2001)
and the reference in the bibliography is:
Council, National Research

How do I correct these?
