It would be good if the number of steps required to select and insert a citation into a text editor could be reduced.
This is my current procedure:
1. Ctrl+F for filter search
2. type in an identifying set of key words (e.g., first author year) Enter.
3. Ctrl+Shift+E to set focus on entry table
4. Down to highlight first reference
5. Ctrl+L to send the key to the text editor
If the search results were automatically highlighted, I could press
1. Ctrl+F for filter or float search
2. type in an identifying set of key words (e.g., first author year); press Enter.
3. Ctrl+L to send citation to the text editor

In the mater branch, I added the functionality that the first entry is selected after a search is done. I assume, this solves your issue. Hope, there will be no undesired side effects.
