Let's say I have a reference with a few entries missing. This can only be additional entries but maybe also required entries. I would like JabRef to have a AutoComplete Function.

A small Dialog opens with all my references in. JabRef iterates over each reference and tries from the information in the reference to find it in Medline. If it finds fully identical references - meaning, you reference in the database is already complete since it was probably downloaded from Medline - it skips this reference.

If it finds one or many references who could fit it shows the user this reference or a list of ambigious references and he has to decide if he wants to replce the existing but incomplete reference. It is like a Medline search with the entries you already have in the reference. So it should be fairly easy to implement.

Cheers,
Dieter

I'd like to add my support for this feature, it would be really useful for getting abstracts and DOIs when you're starting out with JabRef or when a non JabRef user sends you a bibtex entry.

You could specify in your preferences which databases you'd like JabRef to search for updates from.

    Cheers
