    Hello,
i'm a kind of newbee with JabRef, and i just lost my Sunday to :
    1) understand how it works
    2) enter my bibliographic database
    3) understand the jstyle syntaxe

I'm about to give up on the 3rd point…My objective is to format all my
references in the same format as the scientific journal "Molecular Biology and
Evolution", e.g, the following one :

    Ramos-Onsins SE, Stranger BE, Mitchell-Olds T, Aguadé M. 2004. Multilocus
analysis of variation and speciation in the closely related species
Arabidopsis halleri and A. lyrata. Genetics 166:373-388.
    Ross-Ibarra J, Wright SI, Foxe JP, Kawabe A, DeRose-Wilson L, Gos G,
Charlesworth D, Gaut BS. 2008. Patterns of polymorphism and demographic
history in naturalpopulations of Arabidopsis lyrata. PLoS One. 6:e2411.

Instead I have this result :
    Ramos-Onsins, S. E. and Stranger, B. E. and Mitchell-Olds, T. and Aguadé, M.
2004. Multilocus analysis of variation and speciation in the closely related
species Arabidopsis halleri and A. lyrata. Genetics. 166:373-388.
    Ross-Ibarra, J. and Wright, S. I. and Foxe, J. P. and Kawabe, A. and DeRose-
Wilson, L. and Gos, G. and Charlesworth, D. and Gaut, B. S. 2008. Patterns of
polymorphism and demographic history in natural populations of Arabidopsis
    lyrata. PLoS One. 3:e2411.

    By using this line :
    article=\format{\author} \year\uniq. \title \journal.
    \volume\begin{pages}:\format{\pages}\end{pages}.

Does anyone can advice me in order to reach the correct final result ?
    thank you very much

For formatting of author names there is a single formatter, Authors, that
covers a lot of use cases. Take a look under the heading "The Authors
    formatter" here:

    http://jabref.sourceforge.net/help/CustomExports.php

In your case, perhaps something like "\format{\author}" would do.

This formatter is fairly easy to use, and you only need to include those
arguments where you deviate from the default. The format you want is very
different from the Authors default, so here we need to use almost the full set
    of arguments.

Are there parts apart from the author names that you have problems with?
