No

When I load a bib file like the example attached, newlines in the review field are ignored. Then, when I save the file, they are deleted -- this is a problem because my bib file is full of reviews with bulleted ('*') lists, etc.

Also, I suppose this is a feature request: Version 2.9.2 retains newlines but does delete spaces if there is more than one of them in a row. Reviews and abstracts would be much more readable if multiple spaces were also retained.

Oh, I should have said that the newlines are deleted in 2.10b2 , not in 2.9.2

I fixed that in the beta 2.10 branch. Could you try the development snapshot at http://ge.tt/9Idc446 and provide feedback whether it works for you, too?

The spaces are still an issue though...

Yup, in the snapshot, multiple spaces (and repeated newlines) are preserved on file write, but when the file is read they're still deleted.

However, one newline or space is preserved for every newline or whitespace sequence, matching 2.9.2 behavior. But ideally, the full white space behavior would be retained on read.

The current development version seem to handle newlines/whitespace correctly. If not, please report back to us and we will open this bug again.

@Tobias: Could you please add test.bib in src/test/resources and add a test case. In the context of https://github.com/JabRef/jabref/issues/116 it is important to have regression tests.
