I am trying to use libreoffice integration with a bibliography style for which IsSortByPosition=true with a two-column document. The help for IsSortByPosition says that if true the entries will be sorted in the order in which they are cited.
The sort order that Jabref generates appears to be based on vertical position within the page, ignoring the column. That is, a reference at the top of the second column will appear before any references below it in the first column.
This is contrary to my expectations for 'order in which they are cited'. See for example the PDF of the (randomly selected) article at http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3110836/ in which all citations in the first column come before any citations in the second.
Can the sort order be changed to include column number before vertical position? If the current sort behavior is also required can an additional option be added?
The attachment contains a sample libreoffice document and jabref database that illustrate the issue.
