Hi,

Every time I try to connect from my mobile phone with
beta 3.0.0-debug to a VNC server (WinXP, Real VNC
3.3.7) I get the following message:

Problem Connection To VNC Server.
java.io.IOException: error in socket

And if I click in the 'Log' button, I get the following:

Are you using Nokia Compatability Mode?
Try it both with and without it enabled.

The log I sent first is with NCM disabled. If I enable it, I get
exactly the same error and the same log, with just the
line "RFBP.create ncmfalse" changing to "RFBP.create ncmtrue"

Thanks in advance, and hope it helps.

Do you know if other Socket based apps work? (telnet etc?)

    Thanks again.

Yes. I installed "Reqwireless WebViewer", a http web
    browser, and it worked perfect.

In fact, I know that the connection starts, because my VNC
server is configured to remove the desktop wallpaper, and it
really gets removed when I try the connection. Also, when my
firewall was enabled, it logged the connection on port 5900.

The webbrowser prob. does not use sockets, but the native
    http support of the phone.
Does this: http://www.mu-j.com/mutelnet/ work fine when
connecting to say a MUD http://www.lysator.liu.se/nanny/

I can see by the logs that it is working fine up to the
point when the client sends the version back to the server
(the first thing sent). It might be that that the phone has
problems with two way communication over one socket, but if
muTelnet works then it is something else.

    Thanks for you help, Mike

I tried mutelnet, and it worked. Very buggy indeed, but
    worked. ; )

I've tried the latest version on the Motorola 388 Emulator,
and it works, but o/c the emu and the real device are very
    diffrent beasts.
