Yes, the drop down values etc are configured in the "metadata" table linked
to the space.

It is possible to get the kind of report you want by hard coding stuff in
the query.  You can see an example here:

But I would recommend using the new XML API to generate the reports you
want.  The new XML output features are only available in the development
build and you can find details here:

If you need changes to the XML output to work better with BIRT let me know.
