    I am trying to run a simple script to understand how j-interop works:

    JISession session = JISession.createSession("localhost", "myrealusername", "myrealpassword");
    JIComServer comServer = new JIComServer(JIProgId.valueOf("Excel.Application"), "127.0.0.1", session);

    It throws "access denied" error:
    org.jinterop.dcom.common.JIException: The attempted logon is invalid.

    I read the topic on this forum related to the same problem in Windows 7 and got several ideas from there:
    1. change "Local Security Policy" , "Network Access: Sharing and security model for Local accounts "
    - but looks like I dont have Local Security Policy on Windows 7 Home Basic.
    2. change some permissions in regedit, for example: HKLM\Software\Classes\Wow6432Node\CLSID{76A64158-CB41-11D1-8B02-00600806D9B6}
    - but I cannot change it even if I run regedit with admin rights, it says not enough permissions.

    A question is: what else can I do?
    Has anyone used j-interop with Windows 7 Home Basic?
    Is anything else can be done?

      Hi,

      Unfortunately, we might not be able to help you with this, we do not have
      Home Basic in our test environment.

      best regards,
      Vikram
