Are there any plans to somehow not ask for username/password and use credentials of the currently logged in user (under the assumption that both apps are running on the same machine)? It would make it much easier for the end user (but I have no idea how complex this might end up being).

No, this requires us to be native. jTDS does this (it is a JDBC driver) by using an ntlmauth.dll.
