Massive progress update!

ichaelmay8 has integrated uCdl into iZilla, allowing some modules to run right now. More testing and investigating is still needed, but iZilla is getting closer to being a real *zilla! This source and the uCdl library are in the SVN, check it out.

A startup screen has also been put into iZilla. It's just for aesthetic purposes and pretty simple right now, but eddie19913 is redesigning it.

The release date for 1.0 isn't set yet, but we're getting there.

Icons!

Well, desktop icons now draw and respond to clicks. Nothing happens if you click on one though, because there we don't have any filebrowsers or music clients coded in yet. It's a start, and it's proof that the project isn't dead and that it's picking itself back up.

Menus!

After 200+ lines of code and 10+ hours of coding over a three-day weekend, I finally got menus to work. They draw with the appropriate settings from the scheme file, and the menu-items are actually functional. The menu opens when you click on it, and it closes when you click the button again or click off of the menu area. This build is called iZilla 0.3b (beta). There are still some kinks to work out, but this won't be in beta for long.... read more

iZWM

iZWM, the iZilla Window/Widget Manager, has made it to it's first stable revision! It now redraws the screen efficiently, and prevents the creation of artifacts by the movement of the mouse. Soon, the clock widget for the menu-bar will be completed, and that will build will be iZilla 0.1. We hope to have that out soon (working out kinks, not drawing correctly) and will announce it in a variety of locations when it is released.

The mouse works!

We have a working mouse, and a working background picture! This is a lot of progress, because the mouse is much of what makes iZilla different from Podzilla0/2 or Rockbox. In the next few days, we hope to have the menu-bar being drawn with the iZilla menu "button" being drawn, and maybe also drawing the time (and date on 5g iPods). Thanks to all of the people who tested out/tried to test out the mouse demo. I will start putting up izilla-env packages, which will either create your iZilla environment, or will delete it and remake it (update it). You will also download the builds (which contain the binaries and pictures/icons). These two, in combination, will replace the -package archives.

First Visual Signs of Progress

Today, we managed to get a mouse to draw and move when compiled for X11. The same source did not work when compiled for the iPod for some reason. This will be worked on, as well as the integration of .izt iZilla Theme files. These will hopefully be integrated in one of the next few builds.
