Well if we used YUV frames, it is as you say - mythtv wouldn't take advantage of the encoder, but would work. The idea is to support via user choice all the different capture types. The idea is to feed the MPG2 compressed frames into mythtv's nuppelvideo wrapper to GIVE it mpeg2 capabilities... the .nuv format is just a wrapper like .avi is.. right now it holds any of the avcodec codecs, but putting mpeg2 in is legal. > And then hopefully at some point MythTV will have > MPEG2 capabilities? even if it had mpeg2 capabilities, it'd have to do the compression itself.
