ivtv: Setting Tuner 50
tuner: tuner type not set
I'm running gentoo. I have a kernel built from
gentoo-sources-2.4.26-r9
with the patch
http://dl.bytesex.org/patches/2.4.26-1/patch-2.4.26-kraxel.gz
applied.
I have ivtv built from
http://67.18.1.101/~ckennedy/ivtv/ivtv-0.2.0-rc2d.tgz
In /etc/modules.conf:
options tuner type=50
options msp3400 once=1 simple=1
add below ivtv i2c-algo-bit msp3400 saa7115 tuner
dmesg output is attached
Oct 26 dmesg, first load

Has a hodgepodge of patches that didn't apply cleanly to my
source tree. We'll see if including them makes things better.

Those patches solved my problem.
I bet this should be considered a v4l problem, not an ivtv
problem.

Fabulous. The message referenced by the URL above appears
to have changed.
If you want to find patches that add support for tuner=50,
use google and search for the term "TCL 2002N". To narrow
it down further, also reference the string "Microtune 4042"
or tuner_microtune_4042fi5 . These phrases appear in the
patch. (TCL 2002N appears to be the name of the type-50 tuner).
I did find one copy of the patch that had some wrong
numbers which resulted in static on most channels with
islands of tunable channels that didn't match the number.
Here's an excerpt from my source on my working mythtv box:
{ "TCL 2002N", TCL, NTSC,
16*172.00,16*448.00,0x01,0x02,0x08,0x8e,732},
I anticipate this will be folded into the main-line v4l
source in a month or two.

Evidently this ckennedy fellow is the foremost ivtv hacker
at the moment. He has collected patches that cover the new
tuners here:
