There seems to be a bug in gravity's interaction with the stretch 
command.  It snaps it to the grid plus or minus an error amount.  Why 
don't you file this is as a bug at 
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ivtools ?  I'm sure it can get fixed 
sometime in the not too distant future.
