there is a severe problem with the garbage collection of Cocoa under Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard). Until Mac OS X 10.5 this problem does not occur.

For some reason the underlying garbage collection does not free memory, which leads to IVT GUI applications using the Cocoa implementation (when USE_COCOAGUI = 1 is set in IVT/src/Makefile.base) produce huge memory leaks (> 1 GB) within few seconds.

I posted a message in a thread, where this problem was discussed, but haven't received an answer yet:

Calling [ collectExhaustively], as mentioned from a previous post, does not fix the problem unfortunately.

Any help is very welcome!
