I submitted a patch which automatically calculates (and then uses) the generator polynomial for given parameters (n, k, t).
I haven't received any reaction yet (ediap, I don't know if you get a message on new feature requests), that why I am opening this discussion - to give everyone the opportunitiy to comment on it.
thanks to Ediaps private response and very helpful suggestions, I was able to supply a new version of the patches and a more meaningfull description. Please see the feature request tracker.
Especially Ediaps pointer to the astyle (artistic style) style file in extras/astylerc of the SVN tree, was very good.
Hope to hearing any comments.
Best regards,
donludovico

I have seen your Feature Request, but haven't got time and occasion to have a closer look at it. Will try to have a look at it as soon as my limited time permits.
Anyway, I am open for comments from other IT++ users regarding this BCH patch.

Anyone interested in the patch, please have a look at

Any comments are heartly welcome.
If you are interested in using shortened BCH codes, I could also provide a patch for the en/decode methods.
Again, please do not hesitate commenting on this topic.
Cheers,
