I'm free after 2 saturday, but sunday I be crammin' for my first Physics test (fun). I'm also free in the afternoon pretty much every day after that... p.s. Sorry I haven't done much lately, I've been learning Lightwave 3D, which will be getting us radiosity and other awesome lighting into the cave :-) If you are working on lighting for the game, you should maybe leave an option for non-lit objects or something for solid geometry, because I can bake light and shadows directly into a texture image, and damn does it look nice! That sounds like a lot of fun!! I will be gone almost all of next week though... maybe I will be free on Saturday? I will let you guys know when I know more. I love burgers and pizza. :D I can bring cookies or drinks or something too. "Johnathan G." wrote: > > Guys, > > I was thinking about having a post first iteration party for Midworld. Guys, I was thinking about having a post first iteration party for Midworld. We'd have it at my place, have some burgers, steaks, pizza, or whatever everyone wants. Oh, and let's not forget the games! :) If this sounds fun, let me know what all of your schedules are like. Talk to you later. Johnathan. |

I definately feel that this is an awesome goal that we should shoot for. If we really want this to happen though, we need to get better at actually doing development. Other than art and AI, the project has been pretty stagnant over the last couple weeks. At this rate we'll never have something decent enough by November to submit. cheers, ----- Ben Scott Research Assistant VRAC bs...@ia... hey guys I was just online tonight, purusing through various websites and I for some reason stumbled into the Gamd developers conference website and I was checking it out and then I remembered that independent games festival should have posted on their website when submissions are due from developers. And the verdict is: Submissions for the student showcase are due on November 15th. So I pose it to the group should we shoot to submit midworld for the independent games festival? What if you did an observer pattern? Your object that creates the 5 other objects can register itself as listeners to those 5 objects. When each of the 5 objects generates somethings that needs to be added to the queue it could fire off an event to all listeners. In this case, the listener would be the object with the queue which would handle the event and add the object to the queue. Otherwise, if each subclass has it's OWN queue, just make the queue protected in the base class and access it directly. As you can see, since the base class has the queue, I'm wondering why the other 5 objects need to derive from the base class unless each object is supposed to have its own queue. cheers, ----- Ben Scott Research Assistant VRAC bs...@ia... hello I'm still stuck on the following problem: If I have a class that instantiates 5 subclasses and 1 queue, and the 5 sub-classes are supposed to push and pop elements on the queue, what is a good model for giving the subclasses access to the queue. Do I need to have a constructor for each subclass that allows me to pass in a queue - because that method really sucks. j Josh Brown Undergraduate - Iowa State University Research Intern - John Deere and Co |
