Dear Open Source developer I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I kindly invite you to participate. You will find the online survey under http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/. The questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to complete it. With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms. This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved individuals and the conditions of production of these two development models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of Open Source Development. With many thanks for your participation, Benno Luthiger PS: The results of the survey will be published under http://www.isu.unizh.ch/fuehrung/blprojects/FASD/. We have set up the mailing list fa...@we... for this study. Please see http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/mailinglist_en.html for registration to this mailing list. _______________________________________________________________________ Benno Luthiger Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich 8092 Zurich Mail: benno.luthiger(at)id.ethz.ch _______________________________________________________________________ |

Wow, that song is totally awesome. It really reminds me of River City Ransom. :D I can so imagine beating the shit out of a ton of drunk people with that song playing. I like how you've got it set up. It sort of reminds me of Devil May Cry's Devil Trigger and Double Dragon at the same time. The high score board will only apply to actual players, not NPC's. Most NPC's will be in the game very briefly before getting knocked out, so I doubt many of them will survive the round and I don't think we want to keep track of points for every NPC in the game. There may be more than one player on a machine (though of course they can't play at the same time). Eventually, we could have a global high score board, where we have a server that keeps track of top 100 (or so) of ALL Barfight player scores. justin ----------------------------------------- Justin Hare <ja...@vr...> Virtual Reality Applications Center Iowa State University, Howe Hall http://www.vrac.iastate.edu ----------------------------------------- |

Updates have been made that outline the menu system design in detail. There is also a note about fighting styles in the character design section. There are still a couple of issues to be discussed tonight, one of which is "what happens when you lose?" Hopefully we'll get all the gaps filled at tonight's meeting. Also, is there going top be one style of fighting (would this be drunken-stumble fu?), or will each enemy have a set of randomized style moves (i.e. karate punch instead of American boxer punch) _____________________ Matt Billock, Senior in Computer Science (515) 292-6172 AIM: temyrr President, ISU Hockey Pep Band Technology Committee Chair, Tau Beta Sigma "The walls in the hall are very very tall." -----Original Message----- From: isu...@li... OK, so monday we will be meeting again at 8:00 in the usual place. These are the things that everyone needs to do and by when: Everyone: Monday prior to the meeting read the design doc on the website , we will not review it durring the meeting again, If you don't read it and make suggestions at the meeting then we will go with whatever Justin put down on the screen. Justin: Get the design doc to a stable point. I have some suggestions that I'm going to post on the discussion sight. Can you and I get together around 7:00pm on sunday to work through any remaining areas? Levi: Get the OSG abstraction built into siren. Ben: After Levi get's the OSG abstraction built in move siren over to the barfight project. Dan: Get a chase camera put into siren Josh: Keep working on AILoom so that it is ready when we need it, figure out if people are going to get their tasks done in time or not and help them if they are not. Send Email to Margret Hutchinson about posting something on the design website for artists. If you don't think you can get your tasks done then let me know so we can get other people working on those tasks. your fearless fieldmarshal Josh |

Hey Guys, I really hate to do this, but I'll be unable to make the meeting tonight. Hey guys, First of all we are going to have our next meeting on the February 10th which is now 10 days away. At that meeting we will talk about our schedule a little bit more and also take what Justin has for a design doc thus far, go through each topic (or bulletted list as the case may be) and have a discussion on it. In order to make that meeting go as smoothly as possible the more we get done over email the better so at the end of this email I will start a discussion on a topic and we'll see what happens, but first... We have a solution to the lack of artists. I contacted Margrette Huchinson at the college of design yesturday and talked to her about putting up a posting on their career services website under the jobs section as a volunteer opportunity and she was really excited about it, she thought we would get, "at least 50 responses" from a posting about working on a game. So I think that solves our dilemna - although we may get more people than we can use - oh darn ;) Ok, so to start the discussion I wanted to hear what people had to say about a specific part of the design doc: the camera and controls. What does everyone think about the camera and control style that Justin currently has described in the design doc. And one last thing, Levi and Jon please add yourselves to the isugamedev-barfight list on SF. Cheers all Josh |

barfighters I put up a todo page on the website under the IGFEntry2004 page. So if you are looking to do something for the project you can look there, if you decide to work on something then please put your name beside it and the date so that we don't get 3 people working on the same thing all at once.
