The istSOS project looks for students with data management skills and Python programming understanding, that want to develop extensions to support some of the ideas mentioned below.

1) Implementation of building and testing tools

Currently istSOS has not a consolidated development life cycle. To release stable versions it is important to adopt an automated building and testing procedure. The idea is to develop building and testing procedures that will enhance the istSOS development process.

2) istSOS JavaScript API

Using the istSOS REST API is quite easy for a developer to implement web application using the capability of the istSOS Sensor Observation Service. But for beginners is quite difficult. The idea is to implement a lightweight JavaScript framework that will offer easy usage of widgets to be embedded in web pages. Modules like Maps, Charts, Grids will be implemented to fulfill this need.

3) Scalability for Big data processing

Currently the development of istSOS 3.0 is in progress. Many technology are adopted to fulfill the requirements behind the issue of big data. The idea behind is to implement an easy to use tool that will enable users to deploy istSOS services easily, offering easy to use interfaces that will permit control and configuration of large scale deployments.
