Hello,

It would be rather cutting edge to add in a capability for
IM alerts, as well as email-based ones. A possible (and
fairly easily realized) method:

The SDBA Revolution IM App server
(http://duncanlamb.com/sdba/) has a feature that
allows external integration. Drop an XML file in a
directory of a running bot with the desired recipient and
message, and off it goes. Implementation of such a
feature might require the following:

1. Add fields in the user table for IM network and IM
screenname
2. Change user page to add these fields
3. Adjust the alert mechanism to write a properly
formatted (and tiny) text file to the integration directory.

Yes, I am the author of the above-mentioned bot. At
the moment, only MSN is supported for the integration
feature, but I'll add AIM and Jabber support for that
feature very shortly.

What do you think? Would be a cool cutting-edge-gee-
whiz (and easily added) feature, that would also be an
immediately invaluable requirement for IM addicts.
Please let me know if there's interest and i'll assist
however I can.
