Hello all, I am new to Zebra and to this mailing list, so if my question has been dealt before please excuse me. I need to add another protocol, namely IS-IS (a dynamic link state routing protocol) to Zebra. I am using Linux Red Hat 9.0. Can anyone tell me where I can find information on how to add another protocol to Zebra? So far I found nothing. also plz let me know possible issues while integrating. regards Manjunath |

Hi, in what state is the project? Is there anyone trying to port ISISd on zebra 0.94? I am interested and currently have a time to do such things, but don't want to do work already done. Petr -- Petr Jambor |

MeddelelseOK, I understand better now, you actually need to connect to the existing = ISIS infrastructure and query the link state database for link information. This is actually what ISISd does, and you will probably want to connect = any ISIS router through a GRE tunnel. And than you will need to add some software = interface to the link database. This should be simple enough, but you will probably have to dig into the = code to understand how this "database" is constructed and how to query it. You may also want to try adding a "sniffing" mode to ISISd so that it = could construct the database without actually being involved in the routing topology, this might = prove to be a little harder... I think that if you can compile this and it works for you, it will not = take too long after that. If I will be able to help, I will try. Another implementation of ISIS would work - a Juniper router, a Cisco router, or gated. Gated is the only one with a chance of running on the same linux machine, and then you'd probably want to isolate the routing tables that each is updating (iptables/configurations). I need just the transport layer, which comes with ISODE, according to = the Prisma Boot Loader guy who has been of great help. My project is sort of an OSI network analyzer based on a sniffer (the = previous was a similar thing on TCP/IP at gigabit ethernet rates). = Problem is that I can't access networks for testing (not without flying = 650kms), so I thought (in my ignorance) that having a network with some = ES and IS could help generate the traffic needed. Anyway I can read = ethereal dumps, but is is nice to see one's code sniffing in real time = what is really happening. |

Great, I have found the ISODE code, then now I see what it is ;-) http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/system/network/isode/ In fact, I had not fully understood the purpose of ISISd on NetBSD. Do yo= u=20 want to use the NetISO/BSD stack as a transport layer of ISIS in order to= =20 carry IPv4 routing information or do you want to use ISIS to carry ISO ro= utes=20 ? It is a very good news. Moreover, a port of ISISD to Quagga can be found at= =20 the following URL: http://vjardin.free.fr/routing/ Moroever I have fixed a crash case when hostname is not defined. It just needed - A <net/ethernet.h> from a FreeBSD distribution. - The patch described in [1]. G. Harvey, author of [2] (a NetBSD 1.4.5 application that uses ISODE = transport layer), reported me that he finally succeeded compiling = ISODE-8.0 and communicating with imisc on NetBSD 1.6.1. When I get the sources from Harvey and receive the boxes for the project = I'll try to communicate two NetBSD boxes via an ISISD router (wish me = luck! :-) Dom=E8nec Sos i Vall=E8s ds...@ne...
