It is always easier to prepare for the future at
the beginning. I wish the following, which is probably
a bit too much for the beginning:

Good idea:
domain wide pfx distrib (rfc2966)
mesh group support (rfc2973)

draft-ietf-isis-3way-04.txt (or its sons)
Hmm, it is no longer available at ietf.org.
Authors:
D. Katz:
dkatz@cisco.com
R. Saluja:
rsaluja@nortelnetworks.com
I have an older copy available.
This is an important one, me thinks:
1st) "This extension has been implemented by multiple
router vendors"
2nd) " As part of the solution to the three-way
handshaking issue, a method is defined for supporting
more than 256 point-to-point interfaces which is more
robust than the ad-hoc methods currently in use."

Comfortable:
dynamic hostname xchg (rfc2763)

Take a look at:
draft-ietf-isis-traffic-02.txt and its sons:
Useful metrics, take a look at ospf-te in zebra,
try to make it compatible/similar. As you are going
to do the ipv6 part anyway, this should be little
extra work.

There were some drafts on HMAC authentication, which
isn't as naive as plaintext passwords. Can't find it
now. Might not be so relevant.

And a last point: isis allows for subsecond interhello
intervals, giving a failover time of one second, with
for example hello-multiplier = 5 and hello-interval =
201 milliseconds. I think it would be nice if the hello
interval was configurable down to milliseconds.

thanks for listening
