> I've found that using the system's libpci will not always work. Sorry, just a clarification - this is because we're including the local libpci.h, so can't (reliably) link with the system's libpci. Is there any special need to distribute another version of libpci with maxinit? Can we not just link with -lpci and get rid of the maxiniint/lib directory altogether? Regards, Jeremy |

Hello, This patch corrects the build system so that the libpci archive is compiled. I've found that using the system's libpci will not always work. Jeremy |

Hi all, This patch (against CVS maxiinit) corrects the use of the return value of iopl(). At present, errors are not caught (iopl will only return 0 or -1 - never EPERM), and running maxiinit as a non-root user will just segfault. This prints out the intended error instead. Jeremy |

Dear Open Source developer I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I kindly invite you to participate. You will find the online survey under http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/. The questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to complete it. With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms. This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved individuals and the conditions of production of these two development models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of Open Source Development. With many thanks for your participation, Benno Luthiger PS: The results of the survey will be published under http://www.isu.unizh.ch/fuehrung/blprojects/FASD/. We have set up the mailing list fa...@we... for this study. Please see http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/mailinglist_en.html for registration to this mailing list. _______________________________________________________________________ Benno Luthiger Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich 8092 Zurich Mail: benno.luthiger(at)id.ethz.ch _______________________________________________________________________ |

New driver architecture is being developed. This is a patch for original alsa driver for es1968 chip. Firmware downlaod is not enable in curent cvs version so you will still need to run maxiinit (after module loading). But low level function has been debuged and corection in /proc will come soon. Code for handling the sam chipset need to be added (some can be ported from sam9407.c in pieter's drivrer). please HOLD ON -- jeanseb I know it look like I'm insane Take a closer look I'm not to blame. Hi Pieter, I read in the Maxistudio ISIS newsgroup that you are looking for an ISIS. I don't know if you already looked on ebay Germany, there is one being sold there: http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2788877186&category=8069 Good luck! ;-) Christian |

Hi all, I'm afraid I've got some bad news... Apparently I've fucked up my ISIS card by tampering a little too much with it while attaching it to a logic analyzer. The SAM chip isn't responding anymore... This means that I don't have an ISIS anymore to continue development of the driver. I might look around on ebay to get a 'new' one, but that might be a little difficult. Pieter |

Here a patch for 0.9.8 that work for me but need testing. I've added the isis card in the configure option (./configure --with-cards=isis) and done some change to make the driver compile with gcc version 2.95 (kernel may have some problemes with newer one). This changes aren't yet in the cvs tree, but please test them and give me feel back -- jeanseb I know it look like I'm insane Take a closer look I'm not to blame. This is a new version of maxiinit that work for me with the isis.bin firmware (taken from 1.8 original windows driver). Sound is noisy and only on the maestro output but allseem to be OK. Hi all, I know you haven't heard a lot of me the last few months. I'ts been pretty busy days. I've just started working, so time isn't that available anymore. Nevertheless I continue the work on the driver. I'm planning on attaching the isis to a logic analyzer (working certainly has some benifits) to investigate the SAM-MAESTRO traffic. I hope to learn the nescessary info from this data. It will still take some time before I have the card attached, and the data available. But I think this will help development a lot. This way I will be able to experiment with the windows drivers and their operation. Greetings, Pieter |

Hi, What firmware are you using to init the maxi studio? it's pretty important that you use the pci64.bin firmware of the driver version 1.9 Otherwise, I don't have a clue for the moment. Pieter |

Hi, I deliberately "optimized" the code by letting out the duplicate address selection. I didn't have any reasons to believe it was anything other than a lazyness of the driver programmers. Does it help to introduce this? Pieter |

Hi, the most obvious question: are you using the latest version of maxiinit (i.e. 0.2.1)? The problem you describe occurred in the versions prior to 0.2.1 Greetings, Pieter Palmers |

this happens on differenent machines with different irqs, slots etc...

As far as I see in datasheet aull register are word ones.
But in source code there's byte, words and event long out call's.
Here's a patch that set out call to out word for the address register in the sam
IO function.
