Checking the database schema, I see that I was wrong: "ptype" stands for "Publication Binding Type", not "Publication Type", which is stored in "ctype". I am changing this bug to a Feature request: we need to add "ctype" to the list of fields that Publications can be searched on. We also need to spell out what "ctype" and "ptype" stand for in the drop-down list of fields.
