#550 Title variant web page additions discarded silently

If someone adds a web page for a variant of a title, the system appears to accept the edit, gives no warning, and then silently discards the web page. No warning is given to the original editor, nor to the moderator. While at the very least the system should give a warning that such an edit will not be accepted, it's probably better if that field were set as read-only (non editable) when someone edits a variant title record. (See associated Feature Request #740 asking that this be allowed for language variants.)
