The current common library code doesn't tell a plugin about the
common node name. Thus, any plugin currently is forced into non-shared
nodes, which is bad.
I've filed a bug on sourceforge for the common library, bug ID 882640.
I'd guess we'd fix this by adding the shared node name as another
parameter to the "Initialize" function that a plugin must provide.
