      This is a re-posting of a reply to an earlier reported problem since this looks like a different manifestation of the same 32-bit/64-bit problem that I created. If this doesn't apply or fix the problem, please let me know and send me more information so that we can get it fixed.

      If you installed ISAAC 4.2 using the default makefiles and g77 and compiled the examples in the default mode, then the first problem that needs to be fixed is that ISAAC is compiled using 32-bit floating points and the grids are generated using 64-bit floating points and written as 64-bit binaries. Therefore, ISAAC cannot properly read the grid files. This is my error and I forgot to fix it when I uploaded the source and examples. I have promised to fix it, and have on my own copy, but I have not completed the new version and uploaded it yet. Real Soon Now.

      The solution is to either re-compile ISAAC in 64-bit mode (which the GNU g77 compiler doesn't have an option to do) or to re-compile and re-generate the grids in 32-bit mode. If you have access to the Intel compiler (or PGI or another), then they have options to compile as 64-bit reals (usually -r8). The Intel compiler will also give a much faster executable.

      Please let me know if this fixes the problem. If not, let me know what happens and we will get it fixed.

      hi all,

      I am facing the following metric errors after generating the grid in a 32-bit compiler.

      METRIC: ERROR-> Volume <= 0 at BLOCK,LEVEL,I,J,K =   1  1   2   3   2-6.125E+00
      METRIC: ERROR-> Volume <= 0 at BLOCK,LEVEL,I,J,K =   1  1   2   5   2-6.125E+00
      METRIC: ERROR-> Volume <= 0 at BLOCK,LEVEL,I,J,K =   1  1   2   7   2-6.125E+00
      METRIC: ERROR-> Volume <= 0 at BLOCK,LEVEL,I,J,K =   1  1   2   9   2-6.125E+00
      METRIC: ERROR-> Volume <= 0 at BLOCK,LEVEL,I,J,K =   1  1   2  11   2-6.125E+00
      METRIC: ERROR-> Volume <= 0 at BLOCK,LEVEL,I,J,K =   1  1   2  13   2-6.125E+00

      and similar error statements.Can anyone please tell if this is because of the grid or is this a storage problem.I have maximized all storage.

      Sj
