I installed irsr-0.2 on Red Hat Linux 9. When I try to
login as admin/admin, I get:
Invalid Username and or Password!
Also, when I register a new account, I get the same
error message and the account doesn't seem to appear in
the database.

If the account name doesn't appear in the DB then obviously
the system won't let you login.
The security feature that is used for logging is fairly new
and may have some problems. It's possible that one account
name and password combination won't work but a different
account name and password combination will work (sounds
strange, but give it a try, for now -- just make up some
"other" account name and password, register those, and then
see if the authentication doesn't block you.)
If that does not solve the problem, chances are there is
some security feature (like "safe mode") in your PHP
installation that is blocking usage of the DB properly.
