When doing Obex, it definitely use 57kb/s link layer (so half that for user throughput). On my page, there is a patch (in two parts) that add a socket scheduler and rewrite TTP. This patch fixes many problems for me where packets may get lost or transmission stalled. Martin also told me that the patch does wonder for him.
