I though you had a SMC hardware, so why are you trying an
actisys dongle ?

Yeah, now you need to get rid of the irport driver that has
grabbed the port :
# killall irattach
# rmmod irport

Hi Jean and Hi List,
I am still confused. As far as I know I have the SMC hardware (Windows
I get rid of the serial driver and then try to load the smsc_ircc2 module:
# setserial /dev/ttyS0 uart none
# modprobe smsc_ircc2
However, I still get this:
FATAL: Error inserting smsc_ircc2
(/lib/modules/2.6.7/kernel/drivers/net/irda/smsc-ircc2.ko): No such device
NET: Registered protocol family 23
found SMC SuperIO Chip (devid=0x5e rev=00 base=0x004e): LPC47N267
smsc_superio_flat(): fir: 0x400, sir: 0x2e8, dma: 03, irq: 3, mode: 0x0e
smsc_ircc_present: can't get sir_base of 0x2e8
irdadump then shows nothing.
As I said, I am a newbie to Irda, so what you see here, is all I do...
What am I missing to get the Irda port to work with my Nokia phone?
Thanks very much for all your help,
