I've been trying to set up IrDA on my new HP Omnibook xe4500. From what
I've gathered, it has an ALi M1535D+ chipset (although I may be wrong about
the exact model).
The problem is, I can get ali-ircc.o to find the IR device, but irdadump
does not print anything, and ifconfig does not show any transmission from
I've got this line on /etc/modules.conf
alias irda0 ali-ircc
Then I run the following commands:
dora:~# setserial /dev/ttyS1 uart none
dora:~# irattach irda0 -s 1
1.1 Tue Nov 9 15:30:55 1999 Dag Brattli
0 packets received by filter
dora:~# ifconfig irda0
irda0 Link encap:IrLAP HWaddr 83:b7:e6:79
UP RUNNING NOARP MTU:2048 Metric:1
RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:30 (30.0 b)
(irdadump was left running for a while before aborting).
At this point lsmod shows:
Module Size Used by Not tainted
ali-ircc 22464 1
irda 138640 1 [ali-ircc]
And dmesg shows:
ali-ircc, driver loaded (Benjamin Kong)
IrDA: Registered device irda0
ali_ircc_open(), ali-ircc, Found dongle: HP HSDL-3600
irlap_change_speed(), setting speed to 9600
So it looks like the device is detected, but nothing else works. This is all
on a Debian Sid box running kernel 2.4.18.
Does anyone have any idea on what could be wrong? If there is anything at
all I can do to further clarify the problem (i.e. run in some more verbose
debug mode), please tell me.
Thanks in advance,
