i had the incorrect chip error, removed that part of the code,
recompiled the module, loaded the module using bios and findchip-
supplied info (they agreed) and i get no action.
specifically i tried making the ircomm device and establishing a 19200
baud minicom session to my nokia. this failed and just hung minicom.
however, on a second system, of virtually identical configuration (both
are slackware 10.0, stock kernel & mods, except the second system is
toshoboe instead of nsc-ircc) i had action straight away.
irdadump fails to show any output whatsoever on the nsc-ircc system,
whereas the toshoboe shows both outgoing and incoming messages.
unfortunately due to the fact that i squashed a 60gig hard drive in the
old nsc-ircc laptop i can't update my kernel (as some sort of bios disk-
geometry bug i've spent hours on - but conceeded defeat to - prohibits
any newly built kernel from booting). therefore, my fingers are crossed
for a 2.4.26 solution, if at all possible.
