I'm getting the error:
"The expection unknown software exception
(0x0eedfade) occurred in the application at location
0x7c4ea4e1"
Then I get the error message:
"Exception EOleSysError in module RemoteCX.exe at
00073CD1. Class not registered."
Don't know what this means but I know it's not good.

That means that Spirit.OCX isn't registered; I forgot to
mention that LEGO Mindstorms is required to be installed as
well because it registers the Spirit.OCX file for you.
