IrComm2k on Vista 64 bits

I have been using IrComm2k version 1.2.1 for some time on Windows XP with a certain handheld device.  Later versions do not work because of a compatibility problem with the IR transceiver in the device.

I tried to install IrComm2k version 1.2.1 on Vista Home Premium 64 bits.

I got the following error message:

"An unexpected error occurred during the driver installation.
Now uninstall the driver first and maybe restart the
system before you start another try.

    Error code: -536870347"

I tried running Setup.exe as Administrator, with the same results.
I tried selecting XP SP2 Compatibility Mode and got the same results.
I tried all four combinations of these two options and got the same results.

This version installs and works fine on Vista Home Premium 32 bits.

I haven't tried installing later IrComm2k versions because I don't expect them to work with this particular device.

    Any insight? Help?

IrCOMM2k driver binaries have only been built for 32 bit Windows. I do not even know if they would be fine with 64 bit. As I don't have the required build infrastructure anymore, I can't help on this. Someone with an up-to-date DDK for Vista may try to build and run it. In case it's fine and a binary package is provide, I could upload it.

I don't have the DDK.  I hope someone with the right tools takes an interest.  Thank you for your fast response.
