Edit Makefile.PL, go to line 61, and change \@\$(PERLRUN) \\ to \@\$(PERL) \\ Fortunately, most of my development anymore is done on Debian unstable running on PowerPC systems, so I don't have Perl 5.6. This is something that Perl 5.6 requires.
