my configure is:

./configure --prefix=/usr/local/
--with-kernel-headers=/usr/local/src/kernel/linux-2.6.3/build/include

I have openssl 0.9.7c (debian libs) installed.

    apt-get install flex && make clean && ./configure .... && make

    Please inform if installing lexer library do not fix this
    problem.

    In future ./configure will bomb if no lexer library is present.
