First off, I would like to say excellent work to all the developers involved in this amazing project. However, I have thought of something that has not been addressed very much (maybe a few entries on the forums, sorry, am sorta new here) What I am thinking of is power management. For a Linux operating system to be of any use on an iPod, it must be kept in mind that the battery capacity is extremely limited, and it would only last 20-30 minutes if not plugged in becuase the HD is always spinning. The Apple firmware keeps the HD spinning for maybe a minute every hour while playing music, lowering the power consumption a lot. Perhaps it is possible to load the operating system on a ramdisk, and mount/unmount the hard disk only when necessary? Are there any plans to include such a feature in the future? Thanks in advance, and sorry for interrupting if this is something that already has been addressed. |
