Great job with the how to :)
I was wondering how to use the cvs to update the source and your guide was an 
asset.

After doing a quick run through of what you tried, I found a few problems 
involving missing steps (I will add these in) and seemingly unnecessary steps (I 
have never needed to convert the kernel to a raw binary image) and most 
importantly, typos :O

Unfortunately, when I booted the ipod into linux (after unzipping the file in 
the hfs partition) I received these errors:
mount_devfs_fs():unable to mount devfs, err:-2
...

which in turn gave me the error about not being able to open a console, and 
finally, a panic.

Any suggestions?
