This may be a little off-topic (not linux related), but I am modifying the Apple firmware (menu items, bitmaps, etc.) I have copied off the 32mb partition and made changes to it as a file. Obviously the next step is loading the new image back onto the ipod. Is it simply a case of copying the new image onto the 32mb partition again, or do I have to set an update flag / modified date / firmware version somewhere so the iPod knows to reload the image? Also, if something goes wrong, how wrong can it go?!? If I kill the firmware somehow, can the ipod still connect to firewire/usb and be updated again? Cheers Jeff |
